At Hidden Creek Horse Farm, continuing education for the health and safety of horse and rider is a top priority, so we offer clinics and horsemanship classes throughout the year with topics such as First Aid, Horseology 101 for adults, Stable Hand courses for kids, saddle fitting, ground work, horse training, confidence-building obstacle courses, and show performance.   Events are also  featured and advertised on our Facebook page.

Stable Hand Course for Kids

This four-week course is an introduction to becoming a safe, diligent, and valuable stablehand. This is an unmounted horsemanship class (no riding involved). We will cover topics related to horse behavior, reading horse body language, safe horse handling on the ground, and tasks such as cleanliness, biosafety, cleaning stalls, washing buckets, horse nutrition and feeding. We integrate life skills such as honesty, integrity, identity, communication, and faithfulness. Classes will begin at 10am on Tuesdays and finish around 12pm. Included in the course are 8 hours of instruction and application ($360 value) study handouts, and a certificate of completion when done. This course is a prerequisite for our Intermediate Stablehand course. Who is this for? This course is designed for kids aged 9-12 years old. (Future stablehand courses will be incorporated for young people aged 13-18.) What do the students need to bring? Closed toe shoes, ideally boots of some kind. Warm clothes. Bottled water. We have helmets for when interacting with the horses. Who is the instructor? Anna Grace has a Masters in Equine Science from the University of Edinburgh's Royal (Dick) Veterinary School. She began riding at age 9, has taught lessons to people of all ages for 15 years, and owned/managed Hidden Creek Horse Farm since 2017. She and her husband have three daughters, who came up through the ranks as stablehands and working for lessons! She loves to give young people their best introduction to horses, knowing personally the power and confidence that a safe connection with horses can give. Materials used are based on cutting edge science and research, Certified Horsemanship Association and HorseSense curriculums, and a lifetime of experience. Fill out this google form to register!
